☆122♪ More Dried Mango Sightings
2009/11/04 at 8:31 PM | In Uncategorized | Leave a CommentTags: 2PM, 7D dried mangoes, cebu, davao, 빅뱅, food, 샤이니
This is an old one but I believe I haven’t posted it here before. It’s from the Wild Bunny episode where they were pranking Taecyeon after he came back from Boston. The boys got pissed because he didn’t give them mangoes despite having a baggage full of it (or something along that line–can’t remember exactly). When I saw his luggage, I thought he probably brought dried mangoes which are actually from the Philippines. I knew they export dried mangoes to Hawaii but I wasn’t so sure if it’s available at other places in the US.
Turns out they have it in Boston. Chansung could not contain his pleasure.

Although I prefer 7D, this brand is good too. I know it sounds pathetic but this brand now brings memories of Jay to mind (he took a handful of dried mangoes from Taec, some even falling on the car floor, which prompted the others to protest because how could one waste such precious dried mangoes? lol♥) and it makes me sad. That doesn’t have anything to do with my 7D bias, of course, nor is the fact that 7D = Big Bang and Philippine Brand = 2PM in my head (I mean, I don’t even follow Big Bang closely).
7D Dried Mangoes are from Cebu, which is famous for their mangoes and guitars. And danggit (a kind of dried fish), which is the BEST breakfast to wake up to, hands down. And otap. Yes, otap. The first thing my friend ever said to me when she saw me today, “Is there otap?” Wow. Thanks for being such a concerned friend. (*≧▽≦)
Taec, come to Cebu. (ノ´∀`*)ノ There are more dried mangoes there than you can shake a stick at and no jet lag to worry about! And while you’re at it, head to Davao. We have dried mangoes too.
OT: Assuming that the SHINee-going-to-the-Philippines is true, they’re missing out a lot. Manila is going to choke you with the smog and drown you with the flood, boys. There’s a reason we moved out from there. Come to Cebu instead. Or Bohol. The beaches are wonderful (your resident water sports athlete will like it a lot) and the food is great. Or better yet, come further down south. Don’t believe what you hear on TV because we don’t have terrorists lurking in every corner. Davao has electricity, water supply, fresh air, natural protection from typhoons, awesome food and–the most important of all–internet connection.( ̄へ ̄)We’re not primitive, contrary to popular belief.
Oh, and, yes, we have dried mangoes too. ( ̄▽ ̄)b
☆121♪ Who says senior year is fun?

Three things you should never leave Cebu without: 1.) 7D Dried Mangoes, 2.) Otap, and 3.) Danggit. I seriously loooove waking up to the smell of danggit in the morning. Not the most pleasant smell in the world but it’s the kind of aroma that makes my mouth water.
I got myself a me2day account and I was stupid enough not to make a separate Flickr for it so now my random stuff are mixed up with the more serious pictures. Being the organization freak that I am, I am not very pleased. Too late to delete them now (I’m still trying to experiment on that) but at least I noticed the error in my judgment before I uploaded millions of other random pictures I’d rather not have on my Flickr. Good thing we went on a 4-day vacation to Cebu and Bohol for my dad’s birthday. I might be able to push the randoms off my first page if I can find decent pictures from the trip, which is highly unlikely but I’m hoping anyway.
The trip was fun except I got bad news about having to go on air live tomorrow. The script for the first hour is done and technically I shouldn’t be worrying so much but I never really got used to DJ-ing. I have no idea why I was chosen to stay. It’s either the others were really just that bad or I’m not as horrible as I think I am. This semester’s schedule is so messed up I don’t even know what to think about it.
My get-well-soon wishes go out to Jonghyun of SHINee and the fabulous Jo Kwon of 2AM, both diagnosed with the swine flu. I think Kwon is recovering now so I hope he takes better care of himself. I know it’s not easy being awesome, dear, but you don’t have to work too hard. Greatness needs to rest sometimes too. ^^
I’m returning to the lair this afternoon. I don’t want to go back to school yet. orz Will post the photos from the trip some time this week, if my schedule and internet connection will allow it. For now, good bye.
☆120♪ Pokemon is ASTROSEXY!
2009/10/26 at 11:35 AM | In etc | Leave a CommentTags: gaming, japan, m-flo, music, philippine entertainment/media
So. Yes. I’ve been spending most of the last few days playing Pokemon. And you all wonder why I have no boyfriend yet. ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ I finally have Rock Climb, which I’ve been looking for since ever but I’m guessing I won’t be able to use it until I beat the next Gym Leader. (-┏)
My Taemin is so big now. ㅠ.ㅠ *sniff* I wish I didn’t let him evolve into Gastrodon until much later. Should’ve done that to Hyeoyeon instead because I’m biased and I think the East Sea Shellos is far cuter than the West Sea variation. It makes sense. After all, “Donghae” means “East Sea”. ( ´ ω ` ) I do miss my blue Shellos…
I’m keeping Zanjoe as a Machop forever because I have something against Machokes and despite naming the poor Pokemon after one of the many people in the Philippine entertainment industry that make me go LOLWHUT, I’ve grown to like it a lot. I’d like to keep things the way they are. I don’t want to hate looking at the poor thing.
AND! I’m not going to let my Hyukjae evolve any time soon. I’m a sentimental fool so I obviously don’t like letting the Pokemons I’ve been with for a long time evolve. Except maybe if it’s a Magikarp. Magikarps are painfully useless and difficult to evolve into Gyrados. I gave up on mine a long time ago because patience is a virtue that I do not possess. Maybe I should just go catch the first full-grown Gyrados that doesn’t die after just one bite from my Luxray.
Unrelated: I didn’t know how much I missed listening to m-flo until I uploaded Astrosexy on my new mp3 player.
My dad gave me a Sony NW2-A726, which isn’t what I was saving up for and, more importantly, isn’t red but I’m not complaining because that means one less thing to save up for, hmm~ (*´ο`*)=3 Anyway, I’m rediscovering my love for m-flo and MC Verbal’s strange obsession on anything that has to do with space. Their English makes as much sense as “fantastic elastic” in SHINee’s Ring Ding Dong but they make good music that I’ll never get tired of listening to. (♡∀♡)b
I’d totally put up a constellation for Verbal and Taku if I could but since I can’t, the next pretty Pokemon I catch will be named after Verbal!

I made sure to teach her Rain Dance. :Db
Still taking a break from Trials and Tribulations. I was bored so I picked up Pokemon Diamond again the other day and finally got my fifth badge. I’m working on training my Pokemons up to level 40 and up before challenging the Canalave Gym dude.
Apparently there’s this unspoken rule that by the time a girl hits the -teens, she’s supposed to have a boyfriend already. At sixteen, while the rest of my online friends two or three years younger than me were LJ-ing about their boy troubles, I was still enjoying my extended childhood and wondering what’s the deal with 13-year olds complaining that their parents aren’t letting them get into relationships. Having no boyfriend didn’t bother me even when my relatives started asking if I have one (if I did, what made them think I’d tell them?) and I was already contented, fangirling over cartoon characters that don’t exist and will never ever return my admiration for them.
I’m turning 20 next year, my relatives still ask me if I have a boyfriend, and I still don’t understand why girls far younger than me are in a hurry to have one.
Okay, so I’m not a pretty girl, I have absolutely no talent, and my interests turn off 99.9% of the male population of the world. I mean, what boy in his right mind would want a girlfriend who likes Disney and could most likely pass as his younger sister (mentally, physically, and perhaps emotionally)? This is probably why no one I know in real life believes I’m capable of catching any good fish. Even my mom is worried I’ll end up a spinster– alone and lonely for the rest of my pathetic excuse for a life. Sometimes I think of that too. Sometimes I don’t. Most of the time I feel that this boyfriend thing is just a universal expectation I’m supposed to live up to, not necessarily because I want it or I need it.
Other times I put the blame on the various fandoms that shaped my current unrealistic standards. No, not Edward Cullen. I’m not into abusive stalkers. I’m thinking more along the lines of the Jane Austen men and the pretty Asian boys. My mom probably thinks I’m lesbian because I crush on the girly-looking type (have you seen Lee Hongki in drag?) and my friends think I’m a pedophile because I seem to have a thing for the underaged (Okoyama Tomoki is adorable).
Someday my prince will come, we’ll settle down in a house with a pretty garden, and have cute twins. If he doesn’t, I’ll be that nice old auntie that my nieces and nephews adore because I spoil them to bits. Either way I’ll be rich and surrounded with toys, which is good enough for me.
I’ll get my “happily ever after” ending with or without that prince.
☆118♪ Of missed dates and skin care
2009/10/18 at 6:48 PM | In etc, news and current affairs, school, verbal diarrhea | Leave a CommentTags: birthday, books, 슈퍼주니어, school, skin care

I’m horrible with dates and I tend to forget birthdays so I keep this planner thing and hope for the best. I still keep missing birthdays anyway, especially when it falls on a school day. Case in point: Donghee’s and, more recently, Donghae’s. I’m so sorry, bb. We were so busy worrying about our thesis last week that even if I intended to celebrate your birthday by getting a haircut, I ended up dying a little inside. And failing so hard in my attempt to study for our final exam in Law. ㅠ.ㅠ
Last night, as I was arranging the CDs on my shelf, I accidentally dropped my bottle of 12Plus so it cracked and leaked and I had to transfer it to a new bottle. I felt so sad because I wanted to keep it untouched and in mint condition. ㅠ.ㅠ I guess I’ll just have to wait for a chance to buy a new one myself. Or if anyone is going to Thailand, I hope you’ll think of me!
The same wonderful person who gave me the 12Plus bottle from her Thailand vacation gave me her bottle of Tony Moly Lovely BB Cream after we played with it at school. I’m not one for cosmetics but I realized I should have started taking care of my skin long ago and BB cream has this interesting reputation of fading pimple marks and reducing pore size. I just began using it today so I can’t tell if it does work that way but that thing really makes your skin GLOW like magic. No wonder K-pop celebrities look like they came down from heaven or something. Had one of our classmates put BB cream on half of his face. It looked like a before-and-after picture LOL.
I’m saving up to try the SkinFood Aloe Sun BB Cream with SPF20 but I think I’ll finish this bottle first.
I already successfully ate up five or more books within two months, two of which are The Golden Compass and My Sister’s Keeper. It annoys me that the local book store has yet to stock up on the other books in His Dark Materials trilogy so I had to buy My Sister’s Keeper instead if I didn’t want to die of boredom at my dorm. Finished it in only a few days. Bad timing, especially that I’m strapped for cash because of school. Was hoping to find a copy of The Romanov Prophecy at Booksale– a wonderland full of super cheap books– but the good ones always get bought first. I got a hardbound copy of some novel called Heartland instead and though the story is interesting so far, the writing is horrible. They say never judge a book by its cover but for 35 bucks, it’s not a bad decoration for my shelf. Hardbound books without sleeves make me look intelligent and it keeps me busy when there’s no internet. Haha~
Thesis defense this Wednesday. Wish us luck!

So. You’re officially no longer a teen.
How does it feel to be 20? ( ̄▽ ̄)ノ_彡☆バンバン!!
One more year to go until you’re legal enough to get drunk like crazy~
Love you always, Super Boy♥
☆116♪ Yabalabahigia!
2009/10/10 at 11:34 PM | In fandom, news and current affairs, school, verbal diarrhea | Leave a CommentTags: 2AM, school, [video] MV/PV
I have absolutely no idea if “yabalabahigia” is even a real word but whatever. This is 2AM’s FANTABULOUS leader-sshi Jo Kwon with Whale for the album Hwantastic Project Vol.2, singing 덩크슛. Something lovely to cheer me up after a terribly frustrating week.
My Advertising finals went horribly because of… artistic differences. It’s probably my fault in the first place. If only I didn’t have an over-creative imagination, or if only I had the skills and resources to justify my ideas, that group project wouldn’t have crashed and burned. The DevCom finals went better, though. Of course, it could have been better. I shouldn’t have been too lazy to volunteer to work on the logo and invitation designs but what’s done is done and we got a pretty good grade, considering how… uh… wonderful our teacher was. Don’t ask about Philo because I’m not so sure about it either lol.
The only positive thing about this week was dinner. Two straight evenings we spent eating our hearts out at buffets. It drilled holes on our pockets, sure, but at least we got stuffed. I’d rather have that than our very lovely thesis adviser locking us up in the Faculty Lounge until 10PM, way past school hours, for reasons I’d rather not elaborate online. Kat and I ended up having to take the taxi to the nearest 24hr McDonald’s for dinner because nothing else was open. We spent more than a hundred just for that. I no longer have money to buy Skin Food BB cream and a new bottle of sunblock. _| ̄|○
Speaking of thesis… Well. All I can say is I’d rather wear 3-inch heels everyday for the rest of the school year than work on our thesis and with our adviser. Good night, world.

I was going through my organizer (which now fails to give its common name any justice) and had a realization: I totally forgot Donghee’s birthday. Not that I had internet access that day anyway. I’m so sorry, bb. I really didn’t mean it!
We’re on to Hell Week now. We have three deadlines and the final exams next week, and we have yet to finish at least half of anything. Our thesis? Well.
There are far worse problems than mine, however. Probably most of you know about the typhoon that hit the northern part of the Philippines. Back when we lived in Manila, this was one of the biggest problems we faced during the rainy season. Water would flood our tiny house and school would be canceled for days. We’re lucky not to have to resort to staying on the roof, waiting for rescue but still.
To be honest, I had no idea about the Typhoon Ondoy (or Ketsana, I think, as it is known internationally) thing until 73 people were already dead. Fail. _| ̄|○ But you can’t blame me! I don’t watch television much anymore because I spend 99% of my time in school now. Now I hear that there’s another typhoon on its way when the victims of Ondoy are yet to recover. And then there’s that earthquake in Indonesia.
To those who would like to help the victims of Typhoon Ondoy, the Philippine National Red Cross is now accepting donations…
